How it is calculated

Gross = CTC - employer PF - gratuity (if included). In-hand = gross - employee PF - professional tax - income tax. PF is 12% of basic.

What is the in-hand salary for 12 LPA?

With basic at 50% of CTC and PF on full basic, about Rs 87,800 a month under the new regime, which pays no income tax at this level.

Why is my in-hand lower than CTC divided by 12?

CTC includes your employer's PF, and your own PF, professional tax and income tax come out of your salary.

What changed for PF in 2026?

The PF wage ceiling rose to Rs 25,000 a month from 17 September 2026. If PF is restricted to the ceiling, the maximum employee PF is Rs 3,000 a month.

Do all states charge professional tax?

No. States such as Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh do not. Where it applies, it is at most Rs 2,500 a year.
